I take it you read the entire article.
It was not at all a big deal and the article even states that the latest measurements show the levels are back to normal.
It wasn't nuclear reactor, but likely a leak from medical processing facility. At its worst a person would have received no higher dose of radiation than in many standard medical procedures.

With the amount of radioactive Cold War junk floating around Russia, is just a mater of time till the whole country is lit up. Ruskies scuttling around on 5 legs with no hair.

Communism. The gift the keeps on giving.

The fact the Russians reported nothing should trouble you.

Because of the quantities released, the consequences of an accident of this magnitude in France would have required to implement locally measures of protection of the populations on a radius of the order of a few kilometres around the location of the release.

We can't be sure how bad it was but yes it is getting better.

Any time a country releases radiation to the air they should report it.

Hey, nothing to worry about. Putin will tell Trump it didn't happen...Trump and 200 million other Americans will believe him...the news that it didn't happen will be spread through the fake media...life will go on...and a few years from now a bunch of Russians will be wondering why their babies are deformed at birth...why worry about a little radiation?

Don't you understand how the world works? Just look at your phone it will tell you the truth!!! Try not to bump into anything in the process you might get an owie.

Absolutely correct. Unfortunately it's unrealistic to think that Russia would ever do what is correct or ethical.

Event Radiation reading, millisievert (mSv)
Single dose, fatal within weeks 10,000.00
Typical dosage recorded in those Chernobyl workers who died within a month 6,000.00
Single does which would kill half of those exposed to it within a month 5,000.00
Single dosage which would cause radiation sickness, including nausea, lower white blood cell count. Not fatal. 1,000.00
Accumulated dosage estimated to cause a fatal cancer many years later in 5% of people 1,000.00
Max radiation levels recorded at Fukushima plant 15 March 2011, per hour 400.00
Exposure of Chernobyl residents who were relocated after the blast in 1986 <100.00
Recommended limit for radiation workers every five years 100.00
Lowest annual dose at which any increase in cancer is clearly evident 100.00
CT scan: heart 16.00
CT scan: abdomen & pelvis 15.00
Dose in full-body CT scan 10.00
Airline crew flying New York to Tokyo polar route, annual exposure 9.00
Natural radiation we’re all exposed to, per year 2.00
CT scan: head 2.00
Spine x-ray 1.50
Radiation per hour detected at Fukushimia site, 12 March 2011 1.02
Mammogram breast x-ray 0.40
Chest x-ray 0.10

There are several nuclear powered satellites still in space (Russia, USA etc) from the 60's and 70's and some have crashed over the years spreading radiation all over the world even here in Canada, For example SNAP 10A (USA)and Cosmos 954 (Russian) and many more that at the time were not publically known. I think it was after SNAP 10A had crashed and spewed radiation over the north west part of Canada public cancer levels had spiked. Lots to read if interested you just have to Google it.

Default Russian acknowledgement finally

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/world/ru...aims-1.4411682

Finally Russia admits a problem and radioactive release.
