Default Newbie in Calgary

I am a fishing Newbie. My friend took me to Red Deer River near Drumheller twice and it was pretty bad. Muddy and no fish was even biting. Been to Travers reservoir once at midnight and it was incredible. I got two 50cm + Walleye in no time. Wanna try somewhere else near Calgary. Any suggestions?

Colin

Pine Coulee is South on HWY 2 to stavely, than go west at stavely - pull walleye out of there like cheerios in a bowl of milk.

Chains lakes is good to, just south of longview about 20 minutes. stocked rainbows here.

both lakes are a good hour - 1.5 hour drive, if not more depending on where you are coming from.

I had good luck at the carsland weir today, saw fish jumping every. was spinning from shore, our group landed a couple rainbows.

Im not suggesting your going to eat anything from the 2 above waters mentioned but your other post seemed to have some pollution concerns.
Both Newell and PCR are on the comsumpton advisory list

Thanks dude. I just looked up my Sportfishing Regulations and PCR Newell are on the list. I guess that's becoz being so close to town. I think Travers Reservoir Walleyes are OKAY to consume.

Which is a mystery to me....PCR and Twin are upstream impoundments of Travers
Travers is also fed by the Bow River too.
I think the mercury is natural to the soil but if its in the water i dont know how Travers doesnt make the list....someone smart on the site can answer that.

I eat alot of Travers walleye....lol
