Default Mouse -proofing a trailer ??

Howdy.
Just bought a new trailer and , unfortunately have to store it in a mouse pasture.
With my last trailer I had a problem with the buggers getting in , and finally figured out that they where probably getting in from on top of one of the holding tanks.
I ended up duct taping all around the tops of the tanks and the problem went away.
Unfortunately , with the new trailer I can't seal off the tops of the tanks , so am concerned the rodents may get in.
I'm planning on setting some traps inside and monitor for a few weeks to see if any get in.
Any suggestions on what I can do to keep them out ??

Thanks.

get a box of mothballs and spread them around under the trailor. works for skunks, so maybe will for mice. cheap to try anyways.

I've always found the best way to keep the buggars down is an agressive trapping program, before they get established Also, don't keep food in it, while in storage. Those metal box traps seem to work well in our barn.

I've used an open package of irish spring soap in my camper & holiday trailer while stored out at the farm. Not sure if that's what kept them out but we've never had a problem and the trailer smells fresh. As said above though I'd still set a trapline.

Warfarin(poison)bait. Comes in handy palm size bags. Put it all around the trailer on the ground, some on either side of the tires and up on the axles if you can. The little buggers climb up the tires and get on the axle and frame and find their way inside. I would put a couple of bags inside the trailer for good measure.

Kills the little buggers dead - no more problem and no traps to check.

Plug all holes with steal wool. Did that in my trailor and never had a problem in 6 years. you might have to change some of the steal wool pcs as they may rust a bit, but the little buggers never get in and won't chew on the wool

With our trailer, we spread out those fabric softener dryer sheets everywhere (in the cupboards, etc.) Never had one get in.

Suggestions people here on the board gave me last winter were bounce sheets and irish spring soap. We spread each of them all over the trailer and it seemed to do the trick - as well it smelled good in the spring.

Can't go wrong with moth balls but bounce sheets work in th cabin, I use both and still no mice. Stuff a sheet anywhere you'd think they might come in, end of problem.

Default bounce

That's another vote for bounce sheets. I've been spreading them around the trailer every winter and so far...no pesky meeces.

And the trailer smells like a load of fresh laundry. \

Has any one had any experience with those gadgets that you plug into a 110 outlet which are supposed to keep mice away by emitting an ultra sonic squeal? We've got a couple in our garage (the gadgets not the mice) but I don't know whether they are doing any good. Does any one out there know if they work or not? I've thought about putting some in our trailer which is stored in our shop which has both 110 power and a fairly healthy population of mice.
