Default Guns for sale

So more for the administration, but for the rest also.
With Facebook shut down on gun sales/ trading maybe the dialogue portion of gun sales could be re-established? It would be very nice to not be restricted to pm only when talking with buyers and sellers about our guns. You know quit hiding in the closet, bring it back mainstream.
I know you guys are busy, and you may have discussed this when fb first shut down gun trading, if you don’t respond that’s ok. And if someone sends a link to a long dead thread, I’ll at least read it. No idea what terms I would search for.

I was not a mod, but often it was a litany of "This is overpriced" type of comments. I only speak for myself, but do not see us going back. Sorry.

I don't understand what's to gain by changing it? If you're interested in the gun send a pm, exchange phone numbers then call or text.

As far as stuff being over priced you can send a pm and let the seller know, or you can let them keep btt'ing it until they clue in.

What? The deal or possible sale is between two. Not the whole forum, pm, deal, that way if interested....other than that it's real simple.

Probably the best thing that happened in the buy & sell. All you see are ads. No idiotic comments from people who had no intention of buying the product.

Ok I see your points, I just liked the ability to discuss the sale without the extra steps of sending a pm.

Default Agreed

I was a mod when chat was closed down and it was mainly due to the commentary on price and the bickering that occurred in the buy and sell. Basically the buy and sell Forum became another chat forum and the ads became secondary. I believe the buy and sell is working quite efficiently based on its purpose. With that said I do see your position and in an ideal world it would work but as we know, ideal world scenarios rarely occur .

Looking at some of the buy/sell groups on FB, they are rife with stupid comments from stupid people. AO was smart to keep sales at the PM level.

The PM format works great. Including a contact 'phone number always helps.

I remember when it was open to comments. It’s better now, if people would remember the rules about location and price.

If you think something is overpriced, simply do not PM or try to buy it. The seller can sit on it. Easy peasy.

Default New Way Better Way

I am in complete agreement that the new way with PM only is much better than the old days on the buy and sell. If put to a vote I would definately keep it the way it is.

Nothing saying a guy cant send a PM with a low ball offer and nothing to say the seller cant tell you to pound sand. Free country free market, seems to work pretty well.

If you think the price is to high, send him a PM and tell them, but back up what you are saying. Some of them may not realize they are trying to sell for to much, some might not care. I am a fan of how it is now as well.

It is no harder to send a PM than it is to reply to a thread.

The peanut gallery was just dumb if you weren't selling for 25% of new the cool kids would ridicule the seller.

Default Definitely better

Having experienced both sides, I agree that the new way is a lot cleaner and more efficient. In the past there were lots of unnecessary comments, jibes and objectionable behaviour. In addition it was not uncommon for comments to be added just to bump the ads. Replying to a sender is just as easy as sending a PM.

I agree with everyone that says keep it like it is. The other way was just embarrassing in it infantile comment streams. I buy and sell lots on here and this work just fine the way it is, pm if interested, send email for pics, get phone number, talk on phone to hammer out deal. No trolls messing with the program.
