Those two maps show almost exactly the same range as the other two shown previously.

According to the lensman...it is a juvenile bobcat. In taxonomy (small and big game).. I can't think of a more easily misidentified species.

Yes your right, definitely further north in BC on your maps. I was looking at Alberta. Very similar in Alberta range on all 4 maps.

I trap beavers for Your grandfather, know that area quite well. There are Lynx around there...
Sorry guys, but this is too far North for the Bobcats range. If they were around, trappers would catch the odd one. Consider this, there are typically 12-30 bobcats harvested in Alberta every season. None of them are caught in WMU's North of the battle river.

Making blanket statements
I don't think one should ever make a blanket stement
Both animals and birds have been identified hundreds even thousand miles out of their normal range

I know of incidental Bobcat catches that were reported to F&W. One at Rocky Mountain House and two at Hinton. No question what they were.

Having watched many of the guy from Hay River on his trap line he has never trapped a Bob Cat up there.
Check out TheWild North (Andrew P Stanley) if you wanna watch his blog when your bored.
There will always be a first time though.
