Default Trappers

Starting to cool off, and forecasting snow. How many of you trappers have set out the steel?
I'm gonna do a couple sets this weekend, just a short line.
Try and get some baitboxs out so I just have to set the trap in the next couple weeks. Spent last two weeks cutting trails and dyeing traps.

Time to buy that pea shooter, the yellow dogs are about prime. As for bread on the table, that is where the squirrels come in.

As of today taken 9 coyotes and 6 beaver. Lost one coyote to someone who beat us to the set. Dogs look good.

Got a batch fisher sets out and have made 6 new lynx coveys for the first of Dec. Lots of rabbits and cat sign is good.

Hopefully the snow does not get to deep.

Good luck and I hope you fill your quotes.

I've been waiting for the storm that we just had. Looks like enough snow now and even some -30 to set it up. I hope to get 50 marten sets out tomorrow - tuesday. I suspect the lynx might be up in numbers so work on getting pens ready for dec 1st good luck to everyone

Caught 36 coon so far. Would of had way more if I got out to houses and advertised here in the city. Hard to convince this anti trapping government around here in the city that thinning out the wildlife is a good thing and you get less distemper outbreaks.

Might as well talk to a wall.

Rugerlover,

Someone pick it out of a snare on the Trapline.

The snare wire was cut with sidecuters.

Looks they found the bait site and went for a look see and found a coyote.

5 marten
1 wolverine
1 wolf
Does anybody know how many wolverine usually live in an area? caught 3 now in about 5 sq miles including last years catch. I'm finding the wolverine can be a real big s**t disturber I sure am looking forward to trapping some more lynx/wolves etc

Crappy, wish people would just respect another man's work. I have access to some land just west of Busby, I'm calling in some dogs out there. Are you trapping in that area or out of town..

Bill

Good day yesterday on the line.

1 martin
3 coyotes
1 fox

Fox was caught in a 160 ground set. Had the ground set for mink.
Never moved an inch after being caught across the ears.

Hope the weekend trappers have a good haul this weekend.

Got one weasel and one marten this last check.
The wily coyote found something amiss at my snare, and dodged it.
Trying a different bait on my marten sets now, so hoping for better results next week. The river on my line is flooding now, and a paint shaker Tundra don't skim water to good, so a couple sets will have to wait till it firms up.

Well made it out to check the line on Saturday. 3 Marten waiting for me. Checked the ice on the creek, 7 inches, toured down half a mile and broke through. Beaver dam ahead Good thing it was pretty shallow.
No Wolf in the snares yet.

Default setting out the steel

Just setting out some boxes now. Not much winter around Slave Lake yet, as the last few days were really warm. Down in the bottom land we don't have a lot of snow and up in the hills, about 5". Waiting for December before going after canines.
