Question New Guy

New to Alberta fishing, living in Calgary fishing from shore, no fish. Just bought a 14 ft alunimum to change my luck. Would be cool for the youngster to catch a fish. I like the areas around Sundre, Rocky, 3 Hills etc. but the places I've been you can't use a gas motor or no luck. Any suggestions for this weekend? I'm not looking for your secrets, we only get out 2-3 times a year, just a good lake to fish where you can put a boat in the water without fees etc. Love the hunting out here, I'm sure theres fish somewhere.

If you go to Crawling Valleye you are pretty much guaranteed a pike or walleye. If you go to Chain you are also pretty much guaranteed trout.Oh i sent you a private message

I also live in Calgary and I like to go to the Crowsnest Pass / Beaver Mines area. Beauvais Lake, Beaver Mines Lake, and Allison (Chinook) Lake all are stocked with trout. Nice scenery in the mountains too, plus it's only about a 2 hour drive to the area.

Thanks to everyone who replied, ended up on Chain Lakes on the weekend and the boy and I caught about 12 - 14 Rainbows (we had a great time). Appreciate hearing of all the good areas close to Calgary, I will slowly check them all, thanks again guys.
