Rem 700 Custom Gun Parts
Where do you guys get your custom gun parts and/or upgrades? I'm in the process of buliding one and have a few left
Trigger - shilen or rifle basix?
Firing pin/shroud - need a j-lock delete, thinking Gretan
Bottom metal - Ptg Oberndorf aluminum
wyatts extended mag box - center feed in a short action, and to load out a bit.
I got everything else, action, barrel, rings, and the scope and stock on order.
been on RPS's site, anywhere else preferably in canada. want to keep shipping costs down and a fair price. Also if anyone has any of these parts how do you like 'em or what would you recommend.
thanks!

Two items should be changed. Jewell trigger, don't even consider the Timney, it is garbage, don't know about rifle basix. Jewell varmint / hunter will give you 4 ounces to four pounds by changing springs that are supplied with it. The other thing is the bolt shroud. Whatever you get it needs to be steel. I have bought a pile of Rem 700's from guys that couldn't get them to shoot to find a problem with aluminum shrouds galling and hanging up the firing pin.
Check out Pacific Tool and Gauge for bolt and shroud options and magazine bottom metal.

Timney
We use Timney Triggers in our builds the majority of times, the scales show them breaking clean and consistent so not sure what "Garbage" means? Maybe personal preference, Creep, sear engagement ? You'll do well with either trigger or something is wrong with it and return.
Have fun with the project!

Rifle basix can be ordered directly from them. All of the rest of your parts can be ordered from Bighorn Sales. He (Gary) is the Canadian importer for Pacific Tool & Gauge, and will help you with bottom metal, Gre-tan pins, shrouds etc... 1-250-845-2201 thereamerguy@yahoo.ca

Remington build
I also found my timney trigger not that great, wouldn't waste money on another one, but i do like the rifle basix one I have.

Had problems with Timney Tactical trigger sear pin sliding out of housing. It would be so easy to fix with a flared bushing, or a longer pin with "E-clips" holding pin centered. I can pick up Jewell Varmint / Hunter triggers for less than $200.00. The Timney Tactical with out safety is $160.00 plus shipping.

where?...pray tell...:-)
I have 700's with Shilen, Timney (both the old steel body and the new aluminium body), Rifle Basix and one Jewell.
The Jewell is the best but it's hard to tell any difference between the other three.
