Default Ethanol-free gas in Calgary?

Where can I buy ethanol-free gas in Calgary?

I have just bought Eskimo z71 and was looking for ethanol-free fuel for it (actually recommended in the manual). Asked at couple stations and attendants can't tell if they have ethanol in the gas they are selling. So I started to look at the web and found some conflicting information:
1.
From ESSO website:
"Ethanol-blended gasoline is currently available at participating Esso service stations in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Stations selling ethanol-blended gasoline have a label on the pump indicating the gasoline may contain up to 10 percent ethanol."
2.
Petro-Canada website:
"The Federal Government has regulated that motor gasoline sold in Canada after Sept. 1, 2010 must contain an annual pool average of 5% ethanol. Different provincial mandates also exist, some with higher ethanol pool requirements."

Sounds like ESSO says they don't mix ethanol in AB, but Petro-Canada says everybody suppose to mix ethanol by federal law???

I've heard ethanol could ruin a small engine very quick (absorbing moisture, gaskets, ect) and don't want to take chances.

PS. I also remember hearing that out of 10% of a gas saved by E10 8% is spend to grow corn and get it to be ethanol mixed in E10 fuel - isn't that stupid politics??? Factor in environmental impact of replacing equipment and is even more stupid

Fuel May contain ethanol. Father in law works for shell, and he says very rarely does fuel in Alberta have ethanol in it, just not cost effective here.

I know that sometimes my car smells like she has a hangover when I start it in the morning, but not very often, may be after my wife fuels it. Usually I fuel at Esso just because it's close by

lots of the pumps I use have a sticker that says something like 'may contain up to 10% ethanol". The staff never seems to know if it does or doesn't contain it. Hi test, I'm told never has it. Rick.

I realize this thread is dormant, but this politically crrect BS gets worse. If you use ethanol "enhanced" fuel in a aircraft designed for LL 87-80 or LL100 under the authority of a MOGAS certificate, you risk destroying the fuel bladders in the wing and/or the gaskets in the engine of your.......aircraft. That gets kinda serious if you experience an engine failure on takeoff or at low altitude.

Extreme caution must be exercised if using auto gas in a engine designed for avgas. There are even small test kits to check for the presence of ethanol in gasoline.

Husky fuel as 10% Ethanol in the Calgary area , Im pretty sure they are the only Fuel company that adds it around here , Stick with Shell Esso Petrocan etc and you should be OK , I deliver Esso gas and have never added Ethanol , BTW you can smell Ethanol a mile away , Cant quite describe the smell buts its very different to normal gas !

i'm pretty sure any premium fuel will not contain ethanol. ethanol will not harm your small 2 stroke motor, its just always good practice to run a stabilizer in with your mix as well as i always add a bit of sea foam to the jerry can as well.

From what I have been told by those in the industry is that ESSO gas in the Calgary area does not contain ethanol. It is only blended at their Edmonton terminal for distribution in the area. That being said to make the 5% as reqd by gov't the Edmonton area gets a higher percentage blend to comepensate.

I was going to do a bit of testing on the Incredigirl's ecohoost to see if Ethanol-free fuel garners better fuel mileage with that engine. Some say it makes a difference, others say it doesn't. Will be interesting to test!

Petro Canada Premium contains Ethanol.

Shell Gold does NOT.

Coop Premium does not.

Here is list of gas stations and IF they sell ethanol free gas....

http://pure-gas.org/

Regular gas with Ethanol is VERY harmful to "high performance" 2-stroke engines...and can cause detonation. Ethanol is Alcohol.

Most sled manufactures reccomend non-ethanol or non-oxygenated fuel.

IF your burning 87 gas I highly recommend using a stabilizer WITHOUT added alcohol. Seafoam is rumored to contain alcohol. I use seafoam but ONLY in premium non-ethanol gas. It is great stuff to keep your carbs clean.

Do NOT add gasline antifreeze that contains alcohol to ethanol gas...you will harm your engine.

here is a list of fuel additives that do not contain alcohol.

http://www.fuel-testers.com/is_gas_a..._e10_list.html

I do NOT run ANY ethanol gas in any small 4 stroke or 2 stroke engines....unless you want BAD gas that varnishes up your carbs, and rots your fuel lines.

If you have to use it add some of this to the tank.

What varnishes up your carbs etc... is leaving old fuel sit in the small motors, every engine when its going to sit for extended periods should have the fuel drained and i like to typically use a fogging spray to keep everything lubricated while it is stored. An turn the engine on and run the last bit of fuel through it prior to fogging.

my honda generator had a plastic sediment blow and after useing reg fuel from co-op in rimbey the blow got distorted and leaked , due to the ethanol content. be careful of what you use it in.
