Go to Bragg Creek, then south on the highway to HWY 66, then west. The turnoff isn't too far and is on the south side of the highway.

Or, if you are in the south end of the city, head west on 22x and it changes to hwy 66. Watch for the sign, head south, road forks, stay right, pass the campers store, go over the cattle guard and watch for the turn left. If you turn right, it will take you to the camp ground.

I have fished there many time in the past with great success. There were lots of places to have a picnic/bbq, so if you want to make a day of it you can. In years past, the mozzies have be bad, so bring the muskol, just in case.

Let us know how you do, and the conditions of the area. For a while there, the beavers were doing a lot of damage.

Good luck.
John.

gave it a go today and saw 50 or more fish jumping, but no one was catching anything. people were angling, fly fishing, using worms, lures, but no catches in the 2 hours I was there. I am going early in the morning next time for sure. what do you figure a guy should be using as lures / bait in this pond?

try small spoons, and fish where the creek runs into it, in the shallows. usually worked for me, more fish there than in the deeper parts. you can also go further up the road and fish Allen Bill pond too.

I think Allen Bill is washed out . Unless they rebuilt it since the flood . Last time we went by river regs applied becuase the river had washed it out and there was bull trout and other fish from the Elbow in it. Did you try power bait ? or velveeta?

I think marlin1 is right about Allen Bill Pond, it washed out a few years ago, unless they've changed something recently.

For Mclean, I agree about small spoons. I've had some good luck using the small size Len Thompson orange / white spoons in the past. Or try using one of those water fillable bobbers and a dry fly like an elk hair caddis. I've had some good days out there flyfishing too.

Allen Bill was repaired and stocked. Please email Jim Stelfox as per earlier emails and get the limit reduced so there are fish there still after a few weeks.

I use Len Thompson #6, which I think is the smallest one they make.

I think Allen Bill pond got destroyed during the last big flood and it is now just a part of the Elbow. It was like that last year.

It is about 2 kms west of the turn off for Maclean Creek. You go over the hill, over the river and it is on the left side of the road. Lots of parking.

small spoon (the fish there is really small) like five diamonds works very very well.
or pickle rig with pink power bait works ok too.

Fished Allen Bill on the 17th Day after it opened. Arrived there at 6am fished for two hours landed 13 fish, all 7" to 13". I agree with Sundance its going to be fished out very quick. I talked to the ranger it was stocked early june with 2000 Trout. Mclean pond had no luck water is super muddy lots of risers and a few bites though.

Limit is 5, No size limit, Bait allowed. Small Panther Martins work, using bait off a bobber works good too.

The 5 fish per limit is a real shame. It allows for instant hoovering of all fish to a few people that treat a lake like a grocery store rather than a recreational fishery.

Exercise your right to effect change and lengthen the fishing season in these lake via a reduced limit to 2.

Jim Stelfox's email address is on the attached link. Send him your concern about lakes getting fished out soon after stocking.

Sincerely

Sun

Was out in that area last week biking and stuff and Allen Bill was pretty busy......did not see much getting caught but did'nt stay long either.
Mclean Pond was pretty ugly......water looked more dirt than anything.
