Nice Bull!! I thought I would put this cutthroat up, I have not seen a cutty posted yet. Hopefully the pics work, I have not posted any yet. I released this fish so I dont know the weight but he was 21"X12" girth, I have caught a couple cutties that long from rivers before but they aren't as fat (this one is from a lake).

Default Dickson Pond

July 2. Took my buddy out to the trout pond. I wasn't trying too hard, I was hoping to get the client his first fish. I only had my pike rod with me and was trolling a spinner. We were running to the shore to avoid the weather when my rod went wild.
I shut the motor down and started cranking. Finally I got this little fatty to the boat. Only had my little net with me, and no stringer to float him with. One of those times when I didnt go prepared.
7.5 pounds on my crappy scale. Tasted real good baked with lemon slices and green peppers. Kinda was worried about that, and if it would have been a hot summer, I would have put him back.

the tip of the TOP jaw

to

the tail pinched

remember to take photos of this measurement in CENTIMETERS.

(be careful to the fish, measure in a couple inches of water has not to wipe their slime coat off)

Fish eligible to win are Rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout and brook trout.

each fish will have their own category

Example: biggest brown in 2 month time
biggest rainbow in 2 month time
and so on for each species eligible to win

Contest will run for a 2 month span

8/24/2010

Good luck!

First place prize offered by fishingnutter

I have a Salmon rod that I found at an estate sale that came with a knuckle buster (but I gifted the reel already), and I'm planning on changing the eyes on it to become a 9', light action spinning rod - I actually tried it for little ling out here on the coast and it is fun and super sensitive - and my neighbour thinks the upper part is cane.

So, 1st prize is the rod. [and a 70's Mitchell reel if I find one at the fish swap, and I'll load it with 12lb Maxima Ultragreen,,,, if I find the reel]

I'll be in Cowtown July 11th - August middle/late
Is there any way we can add in a section for Junior fishers (Toddler -12)
I think we should encourage the children to compete too, this gets them out there learning about fishing, nature and conservation.
I would be willing to throw a 25.00 gift card to say CHUCK E CHEESE into the ring, Hopefully someone else can throw in something for the kids.

Wow you caught this out of dickson? I was just there on monday with the kids, trolling around with the electric motor. Got about 20+ fish in maybe 2 hours so it was a pretty good day but nothing over 8" or so? Nice work!

This is the second hog I have caught out of this pond. Last one was threw the ice. A 21 inch trout threw a 8 inch hole was tough. May have to come out there and show you a trick I found. lol.

Those are brood stock. You ate that thing? Yuk, gross! Dog food fed fish for 5 years as they harvest the eggs for the stocked ponds...

Default 23" Bow

Caught this guy out at Bullshead last week. A bit over 23" with the tail pinched. One hell of a fat fish though; thick and deep. Guessing in the 5lb range.

With tape:

Caught this slightly smaller one the next night:

Nice evening:

27 inch rainbow trout without tail pinched. 28 pinched. 8.5 inch wide laying flat...so say 18 inch girth? Sorry - didn't measure that. 9 pounds, 1 oz.

Default My Trophy

This fish measures 28 3/8 long and weighed 8 lbs 4 ounces.
This is not in this contest but gives a good visual idea of wieght and length. I caught this one in the fall of 2008.
Happy Rainbow Trophy Hunting.

This brookie was 2lb 13oz, 45cm (18 inches), with a 12 inch girth.
I caught this on June 1st of this year. Not sure if it counts, but thought it would be fun to share.
Happy Fishing!
