looking over the entrys right now to determine.
their was not enough prizes for each individual category of fish so their well be a prize for the best overall fish meaning markings, girth, weight ETC...

I caught this on June 1st of this year. Not sure if it counts, but thought it would be fun to share.
Happy Fishing!
Hay nice fish from NS, but and there is always a but, you took it home and ate it?

NS is a storm water catchment, and I would not eat any thing swimming in there.

Think about what gets washed in when it rains here in LA,

That is just me though, I fish it a lot but only when I can't get to the mountains..

You may be right, didn't actually weigh them, but the one broke the line after bringing it in and I was using 10pd test. That was my basis.

Those fish are not even close to the 10 lb. mark. Here is a photo of the
hog I caught out of Dolberg in 2008. I caught this trout on six pound fluorocarbon line twenty feet from the dock. I was very lucky Gary had his salmon net on the dock. It meaursed 28 3/8 inches. It weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz.

Nice fish everyone! Can BC boys play?

This guy (from my avatar picture) was 9.1 pounds as weighed by our digital scale. IIRC he was just over 28 inches long.

9PoundBow.JPG

He's a Fraser Valley strain Rainbow Trout - they almost grow as round as they do long! I got him long lining a chironomid pupa right on the bottom and when I pumped him he was just gorged full of them. That was one great day of BC Interior lake fishing! We got three big bows that day ... If i remember correctly I think a 6.5 and an 8 as well as this 9 pounder! What a rush!

Default Bull trout

Hello,

I caught this bull trout on 31 August. I don't have a picture with the tape measure but these were the facts: length - 58 centimeters and weight - 3.125 pounds.
I hope you guys will enjoy the photo.

Cheers!

x100. Ive seen people leave NS with stringers of fish, and it makes me want to puke. If I was starving to death, and i could either starve or eat fish from NS, You would see my obituary.

Great catches everyone, thanks for the pics.

A general rule for salmonids; trout, char, salmon.

Lenght to weight,

Starting at 23" = 3 lbs.

Each additional inch is a pound.

25"=5 lbs.
30"= 10 lbs.
35"= 15 lbs.

Many of the posts here show how this rule genarally holds true.

That is just crazy, Krazy! If you showed me a photo asked me to guess, I would have guessed closer to 11 lbs.

Are you sure about the strain? Regardless, nice pig!

Thanks John ... she may be a bit heavier than 9.1 but not much. The fish & net actually scaled at 10.6 lbs. My net weighs .9 lbs dry but I subtracted 1.5 giving it an extra .5 or so for the wet net. If I guessed wrong then I guess it could be a bit heavier but the heaviest would be 9.7 (with dry net). I never did weight the net wet to see for sure. Either way she's a hog!

As for the strain ... I was pretty sure it was a Fraser valley but I just checked the stocking charts on the lake it came from and ... it still is!

I think you better check the battery on that scale or get a new one because there is no way that fish is only 9 lbs! I have a rainbow mounted on my wall that is 24" long x 17" girth & it weighed a tad under 9lbs on a government scale (still have the weigh slip)! I would say closer to 12-13lbs..just sayin'.

Just to back up my last post Krazy I found a trout weight calculator & put these #'s in:

length-28" which is slightly conservative since you mentioned a tad over 28
girth- 19" again pretty conservative I think for that fish

Formula is length x girth x girth(again) divided by 800. With your #'s it came out to 12.63lbs which is right in the ballpark I guessed before. Damn nice trout my friend!!!

PS throw away your scale lol.

Not a contender, but I thought I'd share anyways, 18" out of a Panther River trib. My personal best, nothing to brag about, but ok considering I don't normally fish anything I can't cross in my rubber boots.

It was caught on a #10 Humpty Green & White, in the deep shoot to the right, below a set of small falls. Kudos to anyone who can name the creek.

Default NSR / Phyllis Lake

There are some absolutely beautiful fish that have been posted here. Makes me want to go out and fish my brains out before the waters get too cold..

Here are a few that me and my buddies have caught this year.
First one is at the NSR near Nordegg. It was just under 25". First cast - was a very nice suprise. Sorry I didn't take any pictures with the tape.
The other pictures of the ones from Phyllis (brood stock rainbows). All 3 were around 12lbs. But again broods.. so not wild rainbows.. still alot of fun to catch.

Cheers!
