2006 Polaris 800 RMK - how much??
Sled is basically new. Maybe 15 kms.
What would be a good price to pay?

No, that thing is definitely not brand new, it was 14 years ago. 2006 and only 15km? I'd probably pass simply because a machine sitting for so long without use will just start rusting everywhere inside. An engine is supposed to run and not sit.
But looking at Kijiji, that thing may be worth 3K?

If it was stored indoors a long time sitting won't do it any lasting harm. I have a 2000 Honda that gets used every year for game recovery and snow plowing. It only has about 2,000 klms on it but it gets used regualrly. Would be better to have run a bit every 6 months but even if it wasn't, whatever issues it has should be pretty easy to fix. That said, it is still a 14 year old ATV. Real low mileage is nice but it only partly offsets the age. I agree with the start at $2,000, you can always go up.

I’m a big Polaris fan but I wouldn’t touch an 800 2 stroke. Regardless of low km.

Personally, I wouldn't touch any Polaris of any description but I was trying not to show my bias. The newer Polaris are however a lot better the last 5 years than those before that.

I wouldn't touch a Polaris atv, but I prefer their snowmobiles over the competition. And when I buy Polaris, I an not sending more money to many of the same owners that we keep bailing out, when we hand money over to Bombardier.

I picked up a 2010 RMK last year like the one you describe in excellent condition for 2000.00 US.

Had 5 different Polaris sleds 2000 RMK 700, 2009 RMK 600, 2010 RMK, 2011/13 550 Shift. Never had an issue with any of them.
Had 8 different Polaris Atv / SxS and had one dud.. the first one I bought which was a well beaten 96 sportsman 300 two smoke. The rest never failed me once .
Heard and read the stories on the 800 Polaris sleds and their melt downs that, why I wouldn’t touch it . Even my dealer told me to stay away from em .

i'm not going to try and sell anyone on the polaris 800 , i can only quote my experience . I've never had trouble and a few guys i ride with added turbos to theirs and never any trouble . These are 2012 to 17 era machines . They got good deals on new ski doos and traded up . I stuck to my 2012 cause its been so reliable . We pulled out one of the new ski doos last winter .
I do know from experience that bad news travels faster than good news . Some of the problems you guys have read about "may" be over represented by the few that have had said problems . Or maybe not .

Polaris did not build an RMK 800 in 2006. They had a 700 which was bulletproof, and a 900 which had a laundry list of issues and was abandoned for 2007.
If it is an 800, its either a 2005 in the edge chassis which was a good machine, or its a 2009 or newer which are the notoriously crappy ones. I had a 2010 so I know the story there.

Sold my 2003 rmk800 for $1900.00. Picked up Arctic Cat M1000 162 (1200 miles), for $1300.00. 2006-2015 Polaris Quality control non existent. 900 were terrible. The Polaris Axyss chasis is good. Watched a 2018 RMK 800, 163 with 800 miles sell for $6500.00. It was limited edition. That went fast.

2006 Polaris 800 RMK - how much??
Last sled I owned was a 2005 800 RMK. I bought it brand new and remember I paid $10000 all in with a few upgrades and accessories. Rode it for a few years and never had any mechanical issues. Had 151” track. Sled had around 1200 miles on it when I sold it. Sold it for $7500. But that was back in 2008-2009. Sled was just like the one in the picture I’m posting.
