Browning AB3
Picked up a 30-06. Just wondering what grain bullet I should use for moose in WMU 400 this year. I know i nees to find a bullet that groups well more so wondering the grain. Currenly thinking 180 but was wondering if 165 would be enough. Thanks

Either or will do the job. What priority are you? 400 antlered moose draw may require a p 16. Good luck on your moose

16 priority is not enough to get drawn. I believe I am a 19. I could have got it last year but spaced out my draws and chased elk last year. Thanks for the reply.

Maybe try Hornady SST in 165 grain. I use 165 gr in my 308 & the SST work very well. I need to find the right bullet for my new 7mm mag A-Bolt 3. I may try 154 grain for deer.

To follow along with the other replies, 165's would be great and from personal experience they'll do the trick. I've had great luck with Federal Fusions and Nosler Partitions on moose and elk. For the price, the Fusions are great since you're getting a bonded bullet at a significantly reduced price compared to comparable premium bonded bullets. Happy hunting!

The Noslers are another interesting shell. I have heard that the tolerances are unheard of for factory loads. Better groups than hand loads.

The people that make that type of statement, usually don't know how to develop a load for a rifle. They are usually the people that choose one load from a manual, and then expect that load to out shoot any factory load.

I will try a couple of loads to see what is best patterning. ( hornadys and the noslers). I will also go with the 165 grain to hunt moose this fall. Once again thanks for the tips boys.

Patterns are good when shooting shotguns, but I much prefer small groups when shooting rifles.
