Default Grouse Prep

Is it worth it to de-feather a grouse or to just breast it in the field?

Easy.....and best done soon after the harvest

1. Lay the grouse on its back
2. Step on the wings one per foot
3. Grab the feet one per hand
4. Pull up slowly and steady
5. You now have a breast with the wings attached (satisfy the law)
6. Don't forget to collect the legs and heart.

X100 on collecting the legs and heart. Tasty bits and most through them away.

I always just stick my thumbs in between the breast and the back and rip it apart, always worked very well.

It tastes ten times better when the above instructions are followed rather than cleaning at home.

Does anyone age pheasant whole (feathers & guts included)? I've read about this, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

x 101 Works for me. I do that right after I retrieve the bird.
