Default First crack at it

Made a few marten boxes . Was thinking of serving double duty as mink boxes too. I figure for mink I would just place a tightly fitted closed end over the box end then drill a 2.5" hole as I hear minks are attracted to the rounded openings better this way. I will attach pics of my boxes. You will see I have a full mesh end on some but a few I made with a solid back then cut a 2.5" hole and then meshed only the 2.5" hole part. I hear open or meshed backs allow the scent of the bait to distribute better with air flow? Any tips or info appreciated.

Default Mesh end

Box with full mesh end. I don't have a pic of the closed end with mesh circle yet but I will post later. Also, what are you guys typically using for weasel boxes? Plastic? Wood? Milk cartons?

IMO your on the right track "Flight 01". I have been using the same box for both mink and marten for many years. I also use a lid with a 2 1/2 inch hole when set for mink My only suggestions are to cut your spring slots deeper so the trap can be set about 4 inches in front of your bait at back of the box. I would also suggest using a pan trigger trap for both. The pan trigger trap set close to the bait provides a consistent neck/thorax strike virtually every time.

There are a lot of mink in my area and I'd like to trap them come November. This is a great thread for me as I haven't made any boxes yet. I will be following this thread with interest.
