Was just communicating with my son (he's in the CF) and he's about to become a 'paper criminal' as a result of this; he's and I'm with him.

I urge everyone to write letters and emails to PM Harper, Minister Blaney, local MP's and call CPC headquarters and register your concerns (I did). Here is the number: 1-866-808-8407 It only takes a few moments of your time.

Of course you'll just talk to a minion manning the phones, and they'll just try to give their talking points, but let them know politely in no uncertain terms that you are 'displeased' . Challenge them with pointed questions about who is in charge in this matter. Let 'em know you feel 'stabbed in the back'. Demand immediate change. Call for the RCMP bureaucrats responsible to be reined in - and disciplined is even better. If you have been a Federal CPC supporter let 'em know your 'support' is wavering or slipping. Your call and it's contents have to be noted and passed on.

Default grandfathering option?

When C68 came into force, owners of newly designated prohibs (like short barreled handguns, cal. 25 and 32 pistols, FALs, others) could apply to have their ownership 'grandfathered'. If approved, the back of their PAL has the word 'prohibited' on it.

Has anyone read whether the govt./RCMP will allow grandfathering of currently owned CZ858 and Swiss green rifles?

I have to wonder if the Public Safety Minister Blaney also signed off on the banning of this rifle as he apparently did as regards the Swiss Army rifle. Somehow, I don't think either of the prohibition orders re the CZ858 or the green rifle are all on the RCMP. Yes, they probably suggested, recommended, requested, whatever, but I doubt that they could actually bring a prohibition into law on their own. This is happening on Harper's watch and it is up to him to make things right. The RCMP are not mandated to "make" the laws of the country. What is happening as regards these two prohibitions is far from right and the only fair way to make things right is to rescind the prohibition orders on these two rifles. Just as retiring, high ranking Lesley (army) recently joined the Liberals, it would seem like there are probably to many high ranking RCMP who are probably Liberals as well who would like very much to see many more firearms banned. This Public Safety Minister has to be removed.

You could just as easy make an Uzi from scratch with a CNC milling machine as converting one of these.

If they were what would it really matter? Full auto isn't really all that more deadly than semi auto and in most peoples hands just a waste of ammo. I can remember when buying a full auto was exactly the same as buying revolver here in Canada.

The goon squad will use any excuse to ban any gun.

im currious if this applys to the CSA VZ.58 id guess so as this reclassification has nothing to do with the fact that it can be converted to full auto... and all to do with that its looks like an AK-47. even though it functions completely diffrent and has no common parts.

any semi- auto can be converted full auto..... **** ive seen videos of full auto 10-22s. dont see that being prohibed. sons of guns made a full auto berreta 12ga. dont see them prohibed either.

Just checked the stamping on mine and unless I'm wrong I'm in the clear. ****ed either way but under no circumstances would i surrender it without replacement value.

Kinda wishing we had something along the lines of the NRA...if we do I'm ignorant and should do some searching.

If a suitably large enough feces storm doesn't ensue, and somebody better back up the lab rats bus, or we will be like Australia, no semi's( yes that means Auto 5's and 10/22's), no pumps, no levers, nada.

Wake up!!!

To be honest with you, as a hunter I am always concern what will be next on the chopping block. You can see us Canadians loosing what freedoms, rights we have or had over the years & it will get worse.

I have both and when and if they come for them, they shall get pieces. Till then I will put my money and beliefs where they make the most difference, as should all firearms owners. If you choose to be arrogant and think that it's not going to happen to you next hunter people.... Just wait. The slippery slope is heading your way.

From what I understand on the left side of the rear sight block. I seen one today that has a proof mark but no date.

I just signed the petition will be joining the NFA. I always saw the NRA in the US as being a little overboard but I can now see the value in a passionate group of like minded individuals on matters such as these. An e-mail and signed petition from each and every concerned citizen will be a real eye opener when the numbers climb.

I have a 2006 CZ 858 and am currently ok for the time being but I don't like this precedent. It's a little too Nazi-esque for me.

I didn't see the cz 858 4v on the prohibited list. Just the 2p, 2v and the 4p. Am I missing it or will happen next?

"NOTE: Any "CZ858 Tactical-4 V" firearm with a large machined window on the left side of the sight block and a proof date of 2007 or later is derived from the full automatic CZ VZ58 firearm which has been altered to discharge one projectile with one pressure of the trigger. The original markings have been altered or obliterated and the firearm has been remarked."

Write E-mail Talk to your MP . Tell them your displeasure bill C-68 may be on the table to be scrapped and a new firearms act written . Check it out on Canadian Gun nutz . Things are heating up in Ottawa as amnesty won't do they need to re-write the firearms act. Amnesty means that you can not be charged for possessing one of theses firearms but does not stop the RCMP from taking them .Also Check out Sun News Network Get informed and get active .

This is an old thread and the amnesty is being extended. Those who have them will be able to use them.
