Jumbo perch you say.
Might be the perch to beat in western Canada. This perch caught in BC was supposedly 4 lb 2.4 oz. Might be time to go perch fishing in BC.

There is some big perch in some of the southern BC lakes. They are not a popular fish to target so don’t see a lot of pressure. I used to catch lots of big perch casting 4inch rapalas for bass.

There is a lake where no power boats are allowed do to a bird sanctuary in the southern okanogan that is well known for bass that is good for perch.
If you look around with that in mind you should figure it out with a little effort

Considering the start of the article says 13.4 was around 1.5lbs I think someone made a mistake.

That there Perch is a fat round football. Already stuffed just bake  ........ Some years back we use to fish a small lake out near Burnstick Lake before it was well known. The Rainbows we use to get were just like big rounded footballs also. They were not very long but came in around 5 lbs. We also fished a lake no motors allowed in BC at a little Hamlet of Sirdar and use to catch some good size perch that made some good eating. They were so tasty.

i'm pretty sure i know exactly what lake you're talking about.

I caught my first bass in a lake just south of the okanagon. Also seen 20+pound carp under my kayak.

Shannon is basically a stacked trout swamp with some smaller on average large mouth and the perch are often not very big either. Basically an urban trout pond
Fished it a few times because my buddy lived near it

Nice perch, but there's no way that's 4 lbs, I'd put it around 1.5 lbs at most.

I kinda agree, unless he is wearing size 24 boots and the rod and reel is much bigger than it looks. Perhaps he is using one of those old spring loaded scales that if you look closely it is already stretched out and sitting at 2 1/2 pounds with no fish on it yet.

That's a nice perch, but there is no way it weighs 4 lbs. I'd be surprized if the fish in the image is even half that.

A few years back I watched a UK fishing personality on TV catch what he said was a 2.3 Kilo 36-40 cm European Yellow Perch It was thrice the size of the one in the picture.

Yes, definitely a keeper but there's no way that it's anywhere near 4 lbs, On a good day maybe 1 lb 12 oz. The side of the picture is conveniently cut off which leads me to believe the guy's got his finger on the scale.

The IGFA all tackle world record for a perch is 4.3 pounds. It was caught in 1865 and is the longest standing record for a freshwater species in North America. So enough of this hogwash. That fish was dropped on the scale, the scale was tared, and then the fish was measured again. You couldn't stuff enough lead down that fish to get it to weigh even 3lbs.

Maybe it got into the pepperoni and gorged....I can relate to the weight gain if I am left unsupervised

If you google some of the actual 4lb perch - they looks NOTHING like that one in the picture.
They would eat that perch.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great perch, but it probably doesn't make 2lbs
