Default It's chronomide season. Here is my selection

Check out the double chronomides and yes they really work well. There are 2 boxes of chromies. One box is my box of Pheasent tail bead heads. They are killers in lake and river size 10 to 18 scud hooks
Enjoy
If you start tying 3 of each now you will get a couple of box fulls by Christmas.

awesome

I like tungsten beads on my chironomids, sinks them like a rock, even the little ones. They get into the strike zone quicker.

Looks pretty good to me. I like the idea of the doubles. Had a post on my Facebook feed, of the SFOTF guys into caddis this weekend on the Columbia.
Struck me as early yet for caddis, but, they were there. Don't recall being anywhere they ever came off that early.

The Columbia is a unique river. Where they were fishing on the Columbia is farther south by Trail so the climate is a lot warmer than it is in Calgary also. The Columbia has caddis hatches like we used to see on the Bow. So many hatching at one time that you almost can't breathe or you'll suck them in. Saw about 10 caddis emerging on the Bow on Sunday. But that was it. Since the first flood the caddis have really died off on the Bow. Then the second big flood has decimated the aquatic bugs. I won't say that they won't come back. Because they will eventually. But it will probably not come back to it's former glory of prolific caddis hatches for another 10 to 20 years.

We get massive flows on the Columbia in the summer. Makes fishing the Columbia a problem. The average flow rate is about 37 million Imperial gallons a minute and that ramps up I would guess, to about 30 percent more in May through August with the flows dropping again in September. The high flows don't seam to effect the bugs as there is no dirt or sand to scour the bottom during high water.
Here's a little trivia on the Columbia River. Interesting.
