Default Bucket List Perch 15.75" 2.24 pound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfZa...ature=youtu.be

Bucket List Ice Fishing Adventure to one of the current Jumbo Perch producing lakes in Idaho. I couldn't wait any longer and gathered up the wife and kids, a bunch of Jaw Jackers and drove the 10 hours down to Idaho. This was some of the toughest fishing I've ever done. I was hiking onto the lake and covering about 6 miles a day pulling all my gear to get on and off the ice. Luckily it all came together and I scored my biggest perch ever a 15.75" 2.24 Pound giant. What an amazing day and beautiful place to go fishing. I hope you enjoy the video.

Another great vid. Brandon. You did not exagerate at all about the size of perch you were catching. Congrats. So you had to hike in 3 miles to get to this lake?
That was a pretty slick camera you had hooked up to your phone. I was wondering why your phone was lying on the ice and I kept expecting you to kick it down the hole while scrambling to your jaw jacker.

Those fish are tanks.Good for you for taking the time to go down there.I am guessing you must have had to cover a lot of ice to find those beautys. Now when ya come back fishing to Alberta they are going to seem like tiny minnows. As always the video was awesome and your passion is contagious.Only problem is that you didn't invite me to make the trip with you!Now I will just have to watch your videos.Keep up your great work and maybe one day we will cross paths out there.

Just noticed that little blue "tag" icon on your thread on main page. Haven't seen that before. Does that let you know there is a video?

First one was 14.75, second 14.5 and the one I hold for a long time and say in the video it's 15.75" that's the one that's 15.75" those were the three biggest. Three together weight 5.64 pounds. These pics help... i have never seen perch built like this in alberta.

Sorry guys all get back to all your questions once I'm at a computer tough from a phone.

Yeah from where I parked by the highway I had to walk three miles to the location I was fishing and three miles out. About one mile was one shore through the snow that was the tough part, wearing snow shoes, then the rest on the ice. That’s the new FishHunter Directional 3D sonar and it was working the first day but then the second day it wouldn’t work. But neither would my Deeper sonar. The Deeper wouldn’t work either day. Any I had a Humminbird fish finder that worked at home but when I got there I think the transducer stopped working so it wasn’t working either. Three sonar down on the trip of a lifetime. Really a bummer. I would have been able to catch more if I had my Marcum but I was fishing blind. That’s it I’m not leaving my MarCum in Alberta anymore.

Yeah I covered a lot of ice and the most useful thing was having the Navionics App since all my sonars were down at least I could still find structure to try. Sorry didn’t invite you. I kind of planned this trip the week before I went and the wife thought it was ok so we went and had a great time.

I’m not really sure. I think that lets you know there is a link or something attached in the message I would guess.

So there used to be squawfish that ate the perch but they put rotenone in the lake and killed them off. Then they re-introduced stunted perch from another lake in the early 2000s and this is the result. So they don’t have predators except themselves. They eat themselves and they were spitting up large amounts of blood worms. One 12 inch perch I caught spit up a three inch perch. I can’t say I’ve seen that before.

See above and I’m not sure exactly why but I think they aren’t targeted that much. This is just a new phenomenon and I bet it will only last one or two more years before they are fished out because it has increased in popularity. They say the big fish are 8 to 10 years old, so can’t be that many of them in there. I’m not sure of other Idaho lakes, never fished any others.

I think I will at some point. Maybe once all our house renos are done and I have a place to put a mount I’ll get the big three mounted done as a replica. I have no fish mounts currently but always wanted a perch done.
