Default Got A Deer!

Well thanks to all the good tips on here I finally got a deer last night. Decided to put some meat in the freezer so I shot a nice big doe. Calling her in was easy! I went out in the stand around 7pm, tossed out a bunch of fawn bleats and the odd doe grunt and before I knew it a deer walked right in on me! Was awesome. Seemed like when I hit em with that last fawn bleat she walked right in and out from the willows where she had been hiding. It was a 20 yard shot how ever I shot a little high and hit him in the back, she went about 100 yards before she died. Was an awesome experience. Didn't get any pics of the doe right after I shot it, but did manage to take one when we were skinning it. However I am wondering if I should put it up as people might not want to see that...

Attaboy!

Fawn distress is always fun for spicing up a dull day. Careful with the buck roar though. Unless there's a dominant monster nearby that's rut crazed, it tends to frighten off most bucks in my experiences.

Good luck with the rest of your season.

Good eats there! She looks like she has some good size on her, will make some nice sausage and jerky. Congrats. And, the picture was just fine, my 10 yr old daughter helped me gut and skin out my doe this year and thought nothing of it. It should be normal for people to be able to look on a dead animal that they are going to eat and not be weird or bothered by it.

Its the big circle of life, as my daughter has learned.
