Default First Bow Kill Happened!

Went out to a piece of land I have permission on this morning without very high hopes. Me and my dad had a late start and got into our treestands about 15mins before legal light. Its his first year bowhunting and my 2nd. We have been out the last 2 weekends and had no luck so We figured we would head out 1 more time before rifle season. he got into his treestand and I walked over to mine, 300yds apart or so in fairly heavy bush. I climbed up, pulled my bow up and got ready to sit for awhle. I just got situated and started to look around. My stand covers 4 cutlines in every direction so there is lots of space to keep a eye on. I was sitting maybe 10minutes and looked behind me, and a bull moose was walking down the cutline heading right towards me. I stood up without him seeing me and turned around, clipped my release and watched him. He came in to 35yds and turned broadside. I drawed, put my 30yd pin on him and released, hit him square in the lungs full pass through. He ran 15yds and started to stumble then fell over. Cloud 9 lol. My first ever archery kill and it was a bull moose....couldnt believe it. Got out of my stand and ran over to my dads stand, he just got situated in, and I run over screaming a moose was on the ground so he gets down and we go over to see him. I let him sit 20mins before we got to him and he was laying there still as could be. poked his eye and it was a done deal. Never recovered my arrow, we looked for awhile. Im also pretty sure he had 2 antlers when I shot him but when we got to him he only had 1 side on and the other side looks like it came off very recently, so we looked over the bush and couldnt find it. kinda stumped us. Anyways it was quite the day, now I have a moose to cut and wrap

Awesome! I just got my first Moose on tues. with the bow. What a feeling! Mine layed down out of range and had a 2 hr nap. Got up and took another hour to walk 20 yards closer for about a 30 yard shot! Quite the adrenaline rush! Good eats on the way!!
Cheers.

Nice work! I got a cow moose earlier this year with a bow and is my very first year hunting in general! Looks like you are looking at a very promising future in bow hunting as well! Congrats and enjoy some of the best eats!

Congratulations! First bow kill and a moose to boot. Must have been very exciteing. Pretty neat antlers, looks like deer antlers. Also I see you have snow on the ground where you are.

thanks everyone, it was quite the day. just finished deboning everything and cutting up all the meat. got lots to grind tomorrow, lots to cube for stew meat but the steaks and roasts are done its my first ever moose harvest and the amount of work it takes to harvest and process one is huge compared to the deer im used to. quite the experience. im hooked bowhunting now though. that TWACK sound when the arrow hits is something I wont forget. Was just in the right place at the right time

Well done...congrads...

Dont expect that "twack" sound everytime...sometimes there is no sound at all and you think you missed but its a solid hit most likely between ribs...

great shooting...enjoy
