Bow River Lake Trout
Caught the 3rd one of the season the other day. Another 20".
Too bad I'm hopeless at getting them in the reservoirs, it'd be the only way to take one home.
Got a few other little fatties as well.
Laker poll will be up in a minute.

Ya, it's awesome, the trout in this section are much fatter than in the Calgary city section.
I have named them "Turbo Trout", because they hammer fist the lure and fight like crazy.
When are we going back??

down from the the bearspaw, I don't think they get very big. Not used to current, so they die off after a certain size. Just my take on it. Haven't caught one bigger than 22 inches. That was back in 97. Think they cruise by the dam, and when they open the gates some get sucked down the spillway. Saw a few fish get launched off the spillway over the years. Fished that section of river for over twenty five years. Caught two bulls in there too.

Hey thanks for the great info.
I posted another laker in the cochrane thread which was somewhere in the 27-30" range and about 6lbs or so, max.
They're strong and muscular, but not fat. I was thinking the same thing about the current affecting their ability to survive.
It seems to me that these fish are probably residents and not in the river to spawn, but that's just a hypothesis.
I hooked an even larger charr below the Bearspaw Dam before it closed for the fall season but sadly didnt get to see whether it was a laker or a bull.
I'm definitely going to go back and try to find out.
It's too bad that there is essentially no bag limit for these fish. You can take 3 from the Res. but none over 35cm from the river.

My bro swears by the ugly stick, and it serves him well.
He's had great customer service as well.
1-piece rods drive me nuts. I don't want any.
