Default Drift fishing the Bow aka float fishing

Anyone drift fish the bow?

Tips and tricks?

I'm looking for a Berkley IM8, light action 9'-10'6" rod in Calgary so I can get out and do some more drift fishin.

This is a great time of year for it.

I'm working in Calgary next week and might be doing this one evening with a friend of mine from Calgary if I get time. He has a drift boat modified with an outboard jet motor.

I'll be running the canoe down the river soon too.

What I meant by drift fishing was using a float, weight and varied terminal presentation.

Was thinking of trying some steelhead set-ups, marabou with bead trailer etc

Just for kicks.

I have all the gear needed for proper drift fishing.
I have the Berkley rod your looking for plus all the terminal tackle. You won't find the stuff you need in AB.
Drift fishing is BC's #1 choice for Salmon river runs.

PM me for info and gear.

Now learn bolonese style if you wish to fish rivers of any size. Tons off float tackle on uk tackle sights .

11 ft switch rod with a centerpin reel, and east coast float/shots setup, that's my float fishing rig for the bow.

How do you like using a switch rod with a center pin? Was thinking of building a longer one but worried to spend so much on a rod that might be too top heavy.

Check out any tackle shop in southern Ontario. They will have whatever price range your looking for and most everything they have there for trout is perfect for the bow.

I've been looking in BC and Ontario for a while and don't think it exists minus the right spey rod. Run a 15 ft glx that I'd consider as good as it gets for steelies/coho but need a touch more for kings.

Thumbs up

Float. Been looking for a while now and I'm open to any suggestions. A buddy works with raven and there developing something for that very problem. No one makes an idea long rod that can handle kings. What's your home rivers?

Lol I've caught 18 lb steelies on 6lb. 17lb is not fitness. Just looking for a 14 to 15 foot rod to run 15 lb that's not top heavy or an all around tank.
