Default Road Trip For Playoffs - Ontario - Last Update

Well after the Timmins Rock swept the 1st round of the playoffs we decided a road trip to watch and cheer on the grandson for the 2nd round was in order. Our daughter and SIL, uncle Doug and the wife and I loaded up uncle Doug's Yukon XL and hit the road Tuesday morning at sunup, 2 days hard driving and 2810 km later we rolled into Timmons Ontario at 11:00 PM Wednesday night.

The roads were high and dry until Thunder Bay where we hit some rain / wet snow showers off and on for about 500km, then we hit a full on spring snow storm for the last 250km, 25 cm of slush and 70KMH max but we made it unscathed, just very tired and road weary.

Game 1 and 2 went Thu and Fri night, unfortunately the boy's dropped both games by identical scores of 3 - 2 in OT, we had our chances but puck luck denied us a win, we hit a post and 2 cross bars in OT but it was not to be, two evenly matched teams duking it out in fast playoff junior hockey at it's best.

Tomorrow morning we load up again for the 5 hr trip to Powassan, games 3 and 4 go Sun and Mon night, must win games to say the least, then back here to hopefully see games 5 in Timmons on Thursday night as we have to head for home Friday morning, the kids have to get back for work.

Let's go Timmons Rock, crazy hockey papa is not ready for the season to end

Yes sir it was another fast paced hard playoff JR hockey game, 4 - 1 final but really a 2 - 1 game and we got 2 EN goals late.

We need another full 60 minute effort tomorrow night to bring this back home tied at 2 games. The boy potted a beauty again tonight

Go Rock

Well the boys came out with a fire in their pants tonight, scored in 39 seconds and cruised to a 7 - 1 romp, it was an old fashioned butt whopping
It's now the best of 3 headed back to Timmons for game 5 Thursday night.
Rock on boys

How was the crowd last night? I'm working in Timmins so was thinking about going but my coworker said the game would already be sold out.

Rock up 4-2 with 5 to go in third. Popas grandson scored 4th and assisted on second.
Finished 5 -2 for rock. Game 7 Tuesday. Funny visiting team has won every game in this final.

Yup the boy's pulled it out last night on the road, forced a game 7 Tuesday night back in Timmins, time to break the jinx and win one at home, strange series in that no team has won on home ice yet The grandson is still rolling along 13 points in 10 playoff games so far, very nice

We had to leave for home Friday morning, hit the road early and pounded on it, made it to Virden Man. 18 hrs and 1,755 km grabbed a motel and had about 5 hrs sleep then hit the road again for the last 8 hr and 820 km push to Lloydminster, got here in time to watch game 6 on TV last night. The kids and uncle Doug are headed for Edm and Stony this morning.

It was a great trip, the Air BB houses we rented were great, sure made for a better stay, the grandson was very happy that he got to spend some time with us between practices and games and get some home cooking, we had him and Jack ( other player that billets with him ) along with his Billet hosts over for a couple BBQ's and we worked all the meals around the boy's schedule.

Time to ROCK on Tuesday

Default No Joy

Well there is no joy in Timmins tonight, the Rock fell 4 - 3 in game 7, their season is officially over, I'm so proud of the season Mason had, his dedication and hard work as well as the Rock team as a whole, they played hard fast junior hockey but it was not to be

I feel for them but as young men it will make them stronger and better people. He will start his long drive home in a day or so after they have their team close out, clean out the lockers and pack his car at the billet house, travel safe my boy.

I look forward to September when he begins his next 4 year chapter on the ice with the York University Lions, when crazy hockey papa can again have a team to cheer on.

Thanks my friends for following the journey, take care and be safe.
