Default Anchor "D" Ranch/Outfitting

I managed to buy a one day hunt with Anchor D this spring for BB.

Anyone ever been with them?

Jamie

I haven't but I picked up a pricing brochure, and ran into them while backcountry camping along the sheep river. Look to be a good outfit, but a little more on the 'dude ranch' side of things. I'm sure if you're a good rider they'll take you some interesting places.

Jamie,

They are a great outfit. I've known Dewy for a number of years and he's first class. He's a great family man and works like a dog to keep everything running in good order. I'm sure you will not be disappointed with the time out with them.

$7500 for an elk? I will be eaten beef. I really can't imagine as a resident of Alberta to pay for any of our critters that are allowed under the huntin regs. I find my own critters, don't need no outfitter or guide.

Big x2 on that. Dewy is a great guy, runs an outfit reflecting that.

Dewy and the Mrs are great people. been out with Dewy and one of his hired hands and a great friend of mine a couple of years ago. Rode over 18 miles looking for turkey and bear. Spotted both could not get close to the bear but what the heck I had fun and this was just a great day to get away and enjoy nature. Had another trip booked with Dewy the following year but I got sick and could not go. There was no problem with rescheduling another date.
Anchor D usually has a bear hunt at our silent auction at the NWTF banquet which will be held on April 4,2009

No kidding.. But its not about the Bear.. In fact the last thing I want to do is shoot one.. man that just gets expensive
(Ok.. If I can find one over 6.5 feet..Well thats a different story)

I liked the idea of a horseback ride in the mountains come spring time. It seemed like a good deal to me and the $$$ goes to AHEIA.

I am going to see if I can get my kids to come with me, or see if I can put this one day ride over to the fall.
Anyway it sounds like a good day.

Jamie

It would be the shortest show ManTracker ever had:

1. James sees mantracker
2. James runs to mantracker to say Hi and get an autograph
3. James rats out dad who is hiding in the bush
4. James gets ManTracker to chase dad to see how long it takes dad to collapse

TOTAL RUN TIME: 9 minutes

Sounds like quite the adventure coming up huntinstuff, how did this opportunity find it's way to you?

You'll have to let us know when it'll be on tv.

No TV on this one....just a trail ride with the three of us. I was high bidder at the WISE Foundation auction. Thats how I got it.

If my bud and I can get our ducks in a row and apply, I bet we can trump yer 9 minutes by at least 7. Downfall being my buddy doesn't know how to tie shoelaces and has to run in flip-flops!

You never fail to amuse me huntinstuff. If you and your son are interested in heading out for a day of walleye fishing this summer, I would like to invite you to come out with me to Calling for the day. The conversation alone would be priceless! Chris K

I killed a nice black bear about 2 km to the west of Anchor "D".

Default Anchor D

We stayed out at their place for a romantic night in their cabin.... Very nice place my wife and I really like their toilets... We got the flu really bad that night and nothing romantic about the flu let me tell you! But I went up to the house and checked out the racks from the sheds .... .WOOOOOW that guy has more sheds than anyone I have ever seen in my life. Very impressive ... when you go ask to see the mounts he has too. Very nice

At the AHEIA Dinner of course!

Lots of cool setups like James talked his dad into. (Not that it was much of a conversation...

See you next year.
Get in touch if you need tickets.
