This Ram ended up going 178. It's amazing how much they dry, for instance the bases were 16 1/8 when I shot him and now they are at 15 6/8. He is an awesome Ram the pics don't do this Ram justice. It'll be hard to beat. He was aged at 9.5 yrs

Before. The after repair score is actually less.

It's hard to see the annuli with the stain on the horns.

Got any better pics that show 9 rings?

Congrats on a beautiful ram!

Horns haven’t been stained. They're that dark from when he was alive. It's the lighting.

Thanks for that pic.

Please don't take this in any way as a dis' against you or the ram.
Worst case with this question, your thread will go to ten pages.

How did they get nine+ years?
I can see seven annuli clearly (seventh annuli at 12 O'clock on the left horn)
Maybe an eighth an inch up from the base.
Proportional horn growth through 8 years would appear normal, with severe regression occurring this year.

Based on horn growth, I suspect this ram is 8, and stopped growing this year.

If this ram is 9, that means he stopped growing at seven, which is a concern.
Maybe just an individual animal issue, maybe a herd issue, and either way a F&W aging issue.

ram, I love your posts but I'm with Walking Buffalo on this one. I see only 7.5 years old. I was given some humble pie on my ram this year as they only aged him at 6.5, I had 7.5.

Here's my thought. Either way it's still not a mature Ram as some say a 10.5 yr. Old is mature.

its a mature ram in my mind, anything over 4 is a breeder. lots of 5 and 6 year old rams that are studs, anything over that special.
