Cops shot and killed a frequent flyer criminal a few weeks ago near here. Haven't heard of as much local crime lately. Death is a deterrent. Even death of another crook is a deterrent for some.

About urban or rural criminals. Thats a big question. Part of it is what do you consider rural. During the last election the TV hosts kept referring to fort Mac and the hat as rural.
Things are so different than years ago. If your kids go to public school then they are exposed to internet and basically everything a urban kid has to face.
You can have four kids raised the same from one family and all four can be different.
It used to be that rural people where all part of a community.
Even if there was someone you really hated you still had there back in an emergency. You didn't fear this person was going to break into your house. Actually nothing used to be locked. Especially our house because we were so remote. What if someone got set a foot or broke down and needed our phone? It was a long walk to the next one.
Now so many don't have anything to do with anybody. Aceages come and go constantly.
People have to work in town to survive. People don't visit like they used to or even just talk on the phone anymore. You have to have an internet and go to this forum to have human contact but its not really the same.
I'm thinking if a rural person is bad minded he won't be able to last in a rural area. Maybe this has changed with our culture but I'm guessing word would eventually get out.
I think rural and urban people are the same but a bad minded person will become worse with more civilization.
