Default My biggest Pike!!

Caught and released this big girl in late January. my personal best pike... I didn't weigh or measure her. I've heard "she's pushing 40 inches" to "she's 45 for sure" and "about 18 Lbs" up to "30 for sure"... I hate to open up a can of worms lol but I thought I'd put it out there to a greater audience and see what range of length/weight you all think she might be??

for reference I am 6'2" tall and weigh 255 Lbs. I drilled a double hole with my 8 inch auger. hole is visible bottom right

First off, it's a beautiful pike.

And I mean this with no disrespect, but I personally don't see anywhere near 30lbs of fish there. My guess would be closer to 20. But without measurements it's really hard to give an accurate guess.

Beautiful pike, and great pics. I would say she is pushing 19-20 lbs. Neat to see the bald prairie in the background.

It takes one heck of a fish to weigh 30 lbs. Either has to be over 40 inches and a slob or pushing 4 ft and healthy.

This is my best one, caught it this summer and it was 44 inches, 22 lbs.

Beauty fish, congrats. My non educated guess was gonna be 20 to 25lbs.

Question, do those southern reservoir lakes drop off fast or are the big ones cruising shallows? Seems most big pike pics are close to the shore.

This time of year big ones are usually caught between 6 &12 feet, usually but not always. Depending on the reservoir and area being fished you can go from 8 to 30 feet deep in a 20 foot span, and some places 8 feet to 30 feet deep in a 1/4 to 1/2 mile, depends on the reservoir.

I'd say 22lbs give or take and 38". It's a beautiful pike for sure.

I can guess where you got that having fished in that spot a time or two. Don't tell anyone and keep up the catch and release on those slobs!

Nice thick torpedo pike. I call the fat 40 or 41 inchers twenty pounds this time of year myself. Real close to twenty and sometimes even 22 if they got a half digested whitefish plus their eggs. Good job.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback and kind words. As usual the pics dont do this fish justice. Thankfully there was 1 other guy fishing nearby and he hustled over to take some great pics for me! It might be a long time before I land another a pike of this calibre. For the record I figure this fish to be about 41-42 inches and 21-22 Lbs.

Hate to rain on your parade! But I really cant see the fish over 36", so I am putting it at 12-15 lbs. Look at the 22 lb fish, it has the length that a 20 lb fish has, and yours doesnt have it. Truthfully, my guess reigns in at 12 lbs!

Congrats on your PB Pike. Definitely a beauty and I would say that your own estimate for the size of the fish are spot-on.

Thanks for sharing.

His pike is pretty fat and a fat 36 incher is 15+ lbs. That fish looks a bit over 36 inches to me so hence my previous guess.

If I was a betting man I would peg the OP's pike at 38-39 inches and 18-19 lbs.

Here is a similar one I believe(length, would have been a bit lighter). This was either a 38 or 39(can't remember which but I know I hadn't broke 40 at that point, except maybe the one I didn't measure that day...), probably weighed around 16-17 lbs.

I agree with the 20 lb mark. And if you're at the lake I think you are, you have a good chance at catching something bigger right now. We caught 3 fish, the smallest being 22 lbs in a 2 hour period last weekend. Had to push them back down the 8" hole, so we brought a 10" auger yesterday and got nothing haha.

That is one pig of a fish! Real beauty! Glad you released it, I don't find the meat as good when they are that big, and this way you give someone else that pleasure of catching him! I think your guess at the weight & measurement is pretty close. Tight lines!

Hope that's a bit of a joke...great fish, id say is would be 40 to 41, and no less than 20. I have iced a lot of pike that size and being that you are a big guy, I am confident in my estimate.

I know some fishermen would say 50"+ and 35#'s lol. I would say most are on the mark around the 20# mark. Great fish!
