pigeon whites

Years ago I had moderate luck at pigeon.Since fishing it again the last three years noda white which I target for the smoke house.
I was reading about line colors to use from clear to stained.I always thought that in gin water you fish with clear line but the article in western sportsman states different.
I always stay in the three to four pound range and use tippet material as i only hand line.
As I am getting frusted not catching any and not seeing any.
If I was after marble eyes it would not be a problem
Any thoughts out there.

Anyone hear how the test net went this week by DNR.was also wondering what happens with the catch that they get as I am sure they are using gill nets.
