I have had one since '93 and it is my favorite small centerfire. Has approx. 7700 rounds out of it and is still a superb shooter. Many people will tell you they are barrell burners etc. that have not owned them. The only reason manufactures cease production in rifles is lack of sales or high cost of production in the rifle. I believe the swift still has the myth of burnt barrels from the winchester model 54 from early on, somewhere around 1930. I may be wrong on the date. Currently i have 204, 222, 223, 22-250's in heavy bbl configs and the swift is the one that warms my heart and the varmints hide.
On the ruger in swift it's only slight drawback is the 2 stage trigger. It's not as bad as many were in that era but there is much better available in factory
configs today. It is constantly compared to 22-250's and i believe the best
thing they have going in a comparison is they were not around ( in factory config) when the swift came out. Weaker steel in that day with a fairly hot
caliber. Yes, lots of opinion on my behalf- I am a fan of the swift ! Its not any harder on brass than 22-250's either. It has been around a long time.

I have just reread my post before hitting the submit reply and my own opinion
of this is- you sure seem defensive lannie. Haha, that is one thing i developed over the years owning this arse kickin caliber !!!!!

I had the same gun. The trigger sucks on it. Rifle basix has a aftermarket trigger that is a single stage instead of the two stage trigger.Made it to be a real shooter.Great cartridge.I own two of them.
