DIY Fillet Knife
Merry Christmas Fellas!
I hope you all got something nice from Santa!
I finally finished my latest DIY project, my first ever knife build.
Fillet Knife from an old Hand saw blade.

It all began when I got a log of decorative apple from of construction sites during last season. I thought it might be in use for something, but I couldn't believe my eyes when sliced with a chain saw. At that moment I knew that this going to be a handle for my knife.
Look at those colors!
Unfortunately after the wood dried colors tarnished a little bit, but it still looks awesome!

Sheath
My knife was sitting for a couple of weeks without a sheath, and felt bad for it, so I decided to make him a new "home".
Please welcome guys a unique sheath made of an old suitcase!

Be very carful with the metal rivet at the bottom of your sheath. I had a fantastic knife where the sheath went missing so be bought a sheath that looked very much like the one you made. Problem was the metal of the rivet reacted with the metal of the blade and massively corroded it where they contacted and the knife was ruined.

Thanks for the heads up, but it isn't gonna happen in my case. At first I made a plastic kinda sheath, used a lid from food container. Than I wrapped it in the leather. So, none of the rivets are touching the blade. You will see what I mean in coming video soon.

made a killer fillet knife out of a 8"knife edge file on the surface grinder while i was working out at the lakes. was the coolest government project i did until a guy i showed it to dropped it, broke into about 4 pieces and 30 hours overtime went in the scrap bin lol

It was originally a file, was worked cold with a surface grinder, so super hard yet brittle. Grab a thin file and drop on concrete. It breaks lol.

I see... I thought fillet 🔪 would be done from some flexible material, like my knife, so it won't brake if you drop it. Yours one was like a Japanese style one, right?
Like something like that?
Did tempare that knife after qenching?
