Default Edmonton area streams

Looking to get out this weekend and toss some lines with my dad, I don't own a boat so a lot of places are out of the question. Are there any streams within a reasonable distance to Edmonton that a guy could catch a few trout? I know south of edson is a gold one but my old man doesn't really wanna make the drive just for a day trip. ANY input would be hugely appreciated. Thanks guys

Nothing closer then the edson area for trout. The caroline area, but thats the same distance. I think the north sask in the edmonton area is probably your only option unless you want to fish a lake from shore.

The Whitecourt, Swan Hills area.
Freeman river, Windfall creek.
Not to many trout but good grayling streams
It's about an hour and a half drive.
