Default Question for the serious gun collectors about HBC flintlocks.

I have a friend that may be selling his collection of old flintlocks guns. These would be Hudson Bay Company guns from the early 1800's. I know he had borrowed a couple of them to museums in the past.

I ask only because if there is serious interest I will let him know and will most likely post them on the forum for him. And I know they won't be bought for cheap. These guns are truly for the gun connoisseur. These guns would be the apex of a collection.

Anyways, maybe post on the thread only if you might be seriously interested.

My suggestion would be to advertise the collection in as many places as possible. The true collector group is not that big in Canada. I would also look at creating a dedicated website with detailed descriptions and pictures and send the link via email to the curators of the large gun oriented museums in the U.S. and Canada. I would also put the link up on http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?board=4.0

Shipping Flintlocks to the States is not an issue, they are not considered firearms in the U.S.. You amy also want to look around at some specialised companies on both sides of the border. The guys sell a lot of high end antiques.

I included this English site as being HSBC guns there may well be some large interest in England.

I personally know someone with a very large collection of HBC firearms. I'll find they're phone number and see if they have any interest.

I wouldn't mind knowing that person myself, I have an HBC percussion smooth bore that I've had for more than 50 years; it's getting to be that time....

Thanks for your efforts JoshT. It would be funny it was the same person. I doubt it is.
