If you’re in Edmonton and want fried chicken the only place to go is Seoul Fried Chicken. SFC is Korean fried chicken just off of Whyte Ave. Nothing else comes close.

Default Amazing Chicken in Edmonton

If you want to try something outstanding, go to Northern Chicken in Edmonton. I have never had chicken as good as this. It is fried chicken to its fullest potential. I kid you not. Get the 10 pc platter and order at least one piece: hot, extra hot, and wnfu (we're not ...ing around). The sides are outstanding too. Just a really great place with a cool vibe. 124st and 107 ave

Any idea of the worm/larvae specie?

I fry my own chicken most of the time, I don't do it too often, hence I have a waist. I've been tempted to try a place called Seoul Fried Chicken near Whyte in Edmonton. I've also noticed Alberta Fried Chicken around.

My wife does chicken in the oven. It's not exactly fried but as near as I know everything is the same as stove top except that it's done in the oven and it is the best chicken I have eaten.
Never dry, never burnt on one side and pale on the other and never greasy.
Just good good eatin.

Maybe our source of chicken makes a differance too. We get ours from the Hutterites.

We like it because it is always fresh, they butcher the day before coming. And we know they don't use a whole lot of chemical growth stimulants.
And it is a better price then the meat counter chicken.

You never know with the meat counter chicken where it came from, how it was raised or how long it's been since it was butchered.

Chicken on The Way, they've even opened some stores in Edmonton now. Their fries are my favorite fries, they remind me of a darker pub type. The corn fritters too.

This is turning out to be a very interesting thread. I am really suprised that KFC is getting so many votes. Maybe its the influence of the small towns where they are the only choice.

The best part however is the list of great chicken places to try over the next 6 months or so. Appreciate all those that posted other and providedd the info to find them.

Never greasy, tastes like it did years ago, and you always have to wait for it.

Mary Browns in Bonnyville is way better then the B'ville KFC.
I have to agree, when we were doing shutdown's and rebuilds I would buy from there every time. Showing up with 2 coolers full of Cold Lake KFC always made the guys happy.

Mary Browns in Lloydminster actually gives deals though, where KFC NFW. I remember buying 40 pieces for $50 several times for familes for funerals, reunions, etc.

As for a deal for bulk chicken at KFC their poor little brown heads look like they are going to pop off.

I have never tried Mary Browns but I’m going to now. I very rarely eat fast food but I like KFC. I don’t think the kfc chicken has ever changed really. Its just that everything else has been modified to be bigger. Look at the pepper corn chicken from Costco for example the portions are as big as a small turkey. I’d like to see kfc bring back the condiment pack. A little off topic but I’d also like to see a modern size Big Mac as the burger now should be called the mini Mac. I can eat a Big Mac in one bite 😁

Best thread of the fall.

Now when I'm down south I'll have something to do after the show is over for the day, look for the best fried chicken.

LOL I didn't even know there were alternatives to KFC, aside from the truck stop hot counters that is. Talk about nasty chicken, you haven't had real heartburn until you've eaten truck stop chicken.

Go to any Albertsons grocery, by far the best chicken we have eaten, 8 piece dark is $5, two times the size of KFC, even the sign says world famous chicken,

Keg, if it’s not an old family recipe, please post and share. I’d love to try this out.

Amen brother.. KFC is only good for a internal cleansing.. Only have to eat it once a year. My 95 year old MIL likes it on mothers day. What are you going to say..

The trick is not to eat it right away, let it sit in the fridge overnight then have a go at it!

I remember when Chicken on The Way opened in Calgary, somewhere around 1959 and a 3 piece meal was .90 cents. I still stop there when in Calgary, love their corn fritters.
