Default I've recieved my RPAL...now what?
How do I go about getting my first pistol? Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.

join a range, go buy a gun, get a STATT and LTATT and youre set.

Are you able to get a LTATT with an associate membership?

Yep, the gov't doesn't differentiate; they just ask about if you have a membership, not whether or not you're in the champagne level.
