My Family has been going to Chateau Lacombe Laronde Restaurant since I was a kid because it has the most incredible view of the River Valley, as well as the whole City out to WEM.
Laronde can be somewhat expensive, but no different than any other good restaurant. What you are getting is great service, with a view you cannot believe. Check if they do the "Baked Alaskan" for dessert. You may have to ask for it beforehand when you make the reservation.
For best effect, book for the hour before sunset and see the sunset. As the High Level Bridge lights up, it is pretty amazing.
My European relatives where very impressed with the food / the view.
This is a one of a kind place.

My family are big DaDeos fans, but….. you have to be 18 and they really enforce it.

All this talk about MEAT, so I thought I’d put up a pic or two. This is the sampler Bbq platter, and they have really great sauces as the table. The cherry bbq sauce is to die for!

They fed my celiac daughter French fries with wheat flour in them. We went to the symphony after and she didn't make the first note before she was puking in the bathroom. My extended family had to leave at the intermission.

Pizza Tony's on 96ST and 111 Ave Or for real casual the Italian Shop on 170 St and 90 Ave
Chinese - Dim Sum Delight on 170 St and 107 Ave or Jumbo Dim Sum on 170 St and 105 Ave
Steak - Coliseum Steak and Pizza 118 and 81 St
Chicken - Northern Chicken on 124 St 107 Ave
Mexican - El Mariachi 124 St 110 Ave
Czech Food - Bistro Praha 101 St 101 Ave - Great Shnitzel
Higher End - Normand's on Jasper and 116 St
A real unique and great experience with great food, La Ronde revolving Restaurant downtown.
If you want BBQ, Memphis Blues on 127 St 167 Ave
Avoid Range Road - Probably one of the most over rated restaurants in Edmonton and VERY expensive..
Avoid the Transit BBQ or Blue BBQ near the Mayfield hotel. Also avoid Earls on Jasper.

Just out of curiosity, why would there be wheat flour in french fries. Don’t french fries have one ingredient?

Guessing they must have had some sort of crispy batter on them like the ones you can buy at Costco the Cavendish fries have wheat flour in them.

To be fair, I don't know if it was flour, or barley malt, or something else, but there was gluten in them. Which seems incredibly unnecessary for French fries, which as you point out, should only have one ingredient. Especially in a "gluten free" restaurant...

Actually, close, was born at the Hospital in Claresholm Alberta when my dad was posted there with the Air Force. We moved to France when I was 2, then back to Canada when I was about 10 years old.

Next Act is the best burger joint I know of, next door to, and owned by the guy that owns MEAT. Gotta be 18 though, as it’s a pub, but what great burgers.

Home Fire Grill (100 Ave and 182 St) is really good. I aways go for the bison stew and my friend likes the bison burger.
