Garage Concrete Floor

Last year, I had gone to see a friend's new home under construction. I noticed around 8 to 10 vertical pipes placed in the middle of the three-car garage before concrete floor was poured. I asked my friend but he did not know what they were for. Does anyone have any idea? Sorry, I did not take a picture.

If it was in the south Edmonton area it was likely they were for stabilizing the concrete pad. The south of Edmonton is not overly stable soil.

Probably for a basin or floor drain

Typically concrete or steel piles are used to support the concrete slab, as the backfill under it has a tendency to settle
