It is very nice, but Ingram and Dozier knives are nice too. :-) honestly, if I ordered it built it would have micarta scales.

The two that I never laid my hands on and wanted to try was the elk hunter and buffalo river skinner. There was a guy on cndgunnutz that was selling one of each (might not have sold it either) that I should have bought to try. This is what he had listed a couple years ago.

They didn’t have the scales I liked but were listed for a good price and already in Canada.

There’s a lot of custom knife makers out there. Do your research. The ones that have built me knives have been great to deal with. But I think if I was to get one last custom it would be made by George Roberts in the Yukon

Some of the other guys have given great descriptions of the performance of the knives they got from their chosen makers. I’d love to hear specifically why you like his skinning knives and how they have performed for you vis a vis holding an edge, ease/difficulty of sharpening etc…. Thanks.

No experience with George roberts knives (bandit blades) only what I’ve read

Scales are G10

The OAL for those Crotts knives is 7.5 inches. Now you have the scale for tracing them out

The steel is one thing, the heat treat is a whole other. What convinced me to try a Crotts is he and Dozier, in many reviews, are reputed to be absolute geniuses at heat treating D2. I have 3v knives and S30V to compare it to so it will be easy to tell if their knives live up to their reputations.
