Where are you?

Have you scouted yet?

What area do you plan to hunt?

I live in 535, and I honestly don't know a good area to hunt late season.

We are coming from Calgary, and honestly I have no clue about the area at all, never been that far north. Due to work load I never got out at all to scout the area so we are going there on a hope and a prayer, was hoping kind folks like you could point us to the right direction and just maybe us newbie city folks could get lucky.
Is the hunting for moose in that area next to impossible?
Thank you for your reply.

It's mostly farm land with few pockets of moose. 535 has never been known as
an area to hunt for moose, deer or bear yes.
I would hunt the river but tough this time of year.

I hate to say it.. But you likely wasted time and priority. I have lived in 535 my whole life, and I would never put in for that draw.
Best of luck though

Yikes, sounds like it could turn out to be an adventure of frustration.

I'm sorry, but I think you are in for a disappointment.

This is a heavy agricultural area, so it is heavily private land. Lots of deer, but not many moose. If you check the draw stats, very few tags are actually issued here.

Most people I know that hunt moose in 535, are doing so by boat on the Peace. Pretty cold for that now.

I just asked my moose camp buddy and he said he'd have to check a map to even find public land.

I wish I could be more help.

If its mostly private get a county map so you can identify lamd ownership, lease and crown. The moose on the cropland are pigging out right now on the good eats. The fall has been very nice and many of the stubble fields have substantial new growth, especially canola. Havent hunted 535 but have seen lots of farmland moose thoughout the peace. Good luck

I don't mean to be a jerk...but there aren't any farmland moose around here. Trust me on that.. I have lived here for 30 years and only ever once seen a moose in the farm country. This area isn't the same as manning or peace river country.

There are far too many reserves around for there to be any moose hanging out in the fields.

That's a tough one 1911, I wouldn't waste your time driving up there without scouting or having a predetermined plan.

It's true.

I see cows in fields. Been here going on 20 years and I can only think of 2 bulls I have seen in fields locally.

But further north in 535 where Dale is, there are a lot more native hunters And Dale is right, there would be no field moose at all.
