Default Ice fishing season around the corner....

I know all of you are thinking that the regular fish season is still far from over but I'm already getting pumped to hit that hard water this winter . Just wondering what lakes in the Southern Alberta region/Lethbridge area were producing last season and what used to snag em.

No such thing as "global warming" it's called climate change.

Most of the lakes around Lethbridge and area will produce if you put in your time and figure them out. I didn't get out nearly as much as normal this past winter but still caught a ton of fish. This season will be focused on getting a white through the ice early and then pretty much all walleyes and perch after that. I will probably go for some rainbows and brookies once and awhile but I see most of my time being spent on walleye lakes.

For the walleyes and perch, what depth am I looking for them at? And with pretty much only resevoires around here, I guess I am fishing points instead of looking for reefs?

I fish anywhere from 10-28 feet deep for eyes and perch.

Try searching points or structure near deep water or spawning areas.

I found a spot with a buddy last year during open water season and forgot to go check it out during ice season so I have made a note to check it out this year.

It is a nice little "choke off area" where there is an island not to far from the main land that has a deep channel running through the middle with nice rocky structure on both side. I am hoping to find fish there like we did in the boat.
