Default No Longer a Virgin

Caught my first Sturgeon today, amazing part about it was how I caught it on a dead worm I found on the ground, also wasn't prepared for it so my drag was quite tight (thank god for the 50 lb. braid) which didn't make the fight last, although it made my arm quite sore. Right when I was about to land the fish my dad pulled the pickerel rig up and it snapped, so like any determined angler I got in the water and grabbed the fish. Great day, had a tag on it but sadly didn't know what to do with it although the tag did look like it was just put on about 2-3 days ago. Fish measured 40" and approximately weighed 15-20 lbs. also pretty thick.

P.S. reason for the "overkill" 50 lbs. braid was because I was temporarily using my pike baitcaster instead of my walleye one.

Congrats!
Probably not a new tag, the taggers use pit tags injected under the skin. Probably was caught recently and the tag was cleaned off to record the number on it.

And the faster you land a fish the more energy it has when you release it, probably did the fish a favour.

Keep it up!

Well the tag that it had was actually not under the skin but it was on the dorsal. The red dot on it shows that it's on the other side. It was orange and yeah.

Thanks, and yeah I mean the heaviest I used was 65 lbs. purposely for sturgeon, but I usually use 20 lbs. for the river.

Well if you're headin' up here try the Legends Golf Course, it's more productive apparently.
