Default Dinosaur Provincial Park - take the canoe?

Looking at one last camping trip for the season there next weekend. We've never been and would like to hit the RDR for some fishing. Is it worth bringing the canoe along and putting in upstream somewhere and fishing down to the campground? Or, is walk and wade just as effective?

Any fishing advice is also apprecitated.

I walked the Red deer just south of the Drum last weekend and the goldeye were crazy im not sure about down that far but it was good fishing up there. I hooked one fish which i think was a trout due to size but it surfaced and i lost it.
