Has anyone ever fished Huber dam north of Castor on the 599? I always drive past it while i'm working and it looks pretty small from the highway. Is it worth checking out? Anybody know whats in it?
There are stocked rainbow in Huber. However last year the water was so high it flowed over the dam and took a lot of the trout with it. The dam was not stocked this year because they put in a new spillway. It is going to be stocked again next year. There is a nice campsite with some power sites and potable water at the maintence bldg.
Well i checked it out today all i had was a small spinner and tried for about twenty minutes. I didn't catch anything and nothing surfaced. The water was kinda murky and a lot of cows over on the other side. Kinda a nice place though in the middle of nowhere.
Are they still charging a day use fee there? I was there about 5 years ago and saw a sign "$5.00 day use fee in effect" or something along that line. I got out before I had to pay.
I was there at 11 a.m. on a wednesday and there was no one there so i'm not sure if they charge at all anymore. I sure would'nt pay five bucks to go back there not worth it lol.
