Default Coarse Fish Photos

Hey I'd like to get an idea of what's out there, for curiosity' sake.

What's your biggest Alberta coarse fish, with photo? By "coarse" I mean a fish that's not a trout or whitefish, not green, not a sturgeon, and probably frowned on by the same set that kills carp with arrows and lets them rot or deliberately fin dogfish on the coast and throw them back. Or the people that leave burbot frozen to the ice at Pigeon Lake.

Only rules are that it has to be caught in Alberta, method, and whether or not you ate it. Anyone who pulls the "...throw away the X and eat the plank/board/rock..." line would be disqualified. If it's a secret like with the grass carp and carassius et al, then just size and tackle would do.

Species:

-- All Cyprinids (minnows, suckers, chub) including Carp of any species
-- All Hiodin (goldeye, mooneye)
-- Burbot

Cheers!

Default 20" Chub

Okay, it was caught in SW England, but it is a "coarse fish".

By the way, it was taken while sight casting with a #16 nymph.

I've posted this pic before, but I'll post it again. One big sucker!

Caught on a worm, and no, I didn't eat it.

I guess I had better get out there and do some sucker hunting. I don't seem to ever take pics of the trophy suckers I seem to get.

Not my fish, but the only quillback I've ever seen in person. It was foul hooked in the back with a Rapala.

Nice!

I'm recognizing most of the fist except for the sculpin/warbonnet-looking thing, and the sucker-looking smaller fish caught on the lake. What are they?

Are the quillback in the North Sask. only?

IF your referring to AlbertaFishers "sucker looking smaller fish" that would be a baby (white?) sucker caught out of the NSR.

Huh.

Doesn't look the same as a white sucker. I fish for the little guys on purpose for bait, so I go through a few. Never seen that look before.
