Default Electric (corded) Lawn mower not cutting very well...

Gang, I inherited a Black & Decker electric (corded) lawn mower from my bro (doesn't use it anymore as he has someone that cuts his grass). It's fairly new and in great condition (or so I thought)... I sharpened the blade before I lent it to our next-door neighbour (rental unit next door). It's cutting like crap!! Not cutting clean and any stiffer grass doesn't get cut... Double checked that the blade is on correctly...

Anyone have experience with this happening, any solutions, advice, etc.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers,

Peter

Maybe not enough power, brushes in motor could be dirty or worn.

Is the blade turning the right way?
Maybe he has the hot and neutral backwards on his plug.

Is the deck completely clean? If you have a build up of grass stuck to the deck it will not cut well, a lot of people miss this and it can make a mower not cut clean.

Maybe too long and too small gauge of Extension cord? Not sure if that makes a difference with corded mowers but I do know it does with other things electric.
