Default Hutning rifle - cutlines, fields, treed areas

I live 220kms northeast of Grande Prairie, my hunting is via camp/quad/walking in bush, cutlines, and fields.

I hunt bull moose every 2nd year, elk when I feel like it, black bear every year, and deer if it's a trophy size, or a spiker for eating.

I have used a ruger 30-06 with bushnell 3-9 scope that my late father gave me since my 16th birthday. It's time to update and try a new setup.

I have shot 270, 270 weatherby, 30-06, 300 wm.

With the terrain mentioned, and hopefully a stone sheep one of these years, what rifle & scope would you recommend?

I always leaned toward my Rem 700 in 7mag for that style of hunting.
With a good 162 grain bullet it works just fine

300 WM
I have a good friend around Beaverlodge that hunts the area with a Parker Hale 300WM and is great for the game and conditions you mention.....

Keep the .30-06 with 165gr or 180gr premiums for elk/moose/bear/bush deer.

Get a lightweight .270win using 130gr bullets for your sheep and open country deer.

300WSM..........Lighter gun,shorter action, MAG-A-NUM POWER....150's for deer/sheep and 180's or 200's for anything else that scares you!!

x2 you can load a 300 down to 30-06 and up to 3400 fps with 125gr'ers. Most versitile gun that I have.
