piece of smelt on a quarter ounce or so jighead. and when it gets dark a whole smelt on a glowhead jig for eyes and burbot too. jig it slowly or just leave it on the bottom

I was out last weekend and caught one ling and one walleye. Both were caught with a smelt on a bare treble in about 9 feet of water.

I would say 10-20 FOW, shallower as i gets darker. Green jig head, tip with minnow or a chuck of smelt. Jig on the bottom. Walleye fishing is best at first and last light, my suggestion is head out in the afternoon, take a flashlight and stay a couple hours after dark. Bite should continue and can get a few burbot too.

PS: remember 0 limit on walleye in pcr.

Burb action was very slow Saturday night. Perhaps the fish are busy spawning this week.

At Pine coulee we have found that all the eggs in the Burbs are gone in Feb. Many others have found that as well. I believe they spawn early in this lake. I will look next time I'm out.
