Make sure a minnow trap is legal in the lake/river where you want to use it.

"Minnow traps must bear the operator’s name, address and Sportfishing
Licence number."

Just though you might like to know.

Ice cream pail and some screen for your sliding door or windows. The metal screen works better. Make a cone with the screen like the top of the water bottle. This is why the metal screen works better, it holds it's shape. Cut a hole in the lid of the ice cream pail and attach the screen so the cone goes into the pail. It's pretty much the same idea as the bottles. Plus it gives you the excuse to buy ice cream.

I just started experimenting with a wire trap that I bought at Canadian tire. Damn thing comes up empty all the time.

I've tried bacon and marsh mallows so far for bait. Have to keep working at it.
