Introduction - Nirav from Calgary
Hello Outdoorsmen
I am Nirav Ghodasara; a gungeek, competitive shooter, and outdoors entusiast.
Began competitive shooting at the age of 15 in India, mainly ISSF events in .177 and .22 disciplines. Participation and winnings in regional, state, and national level competitions also lead me to work as part-time shooting instructors at 2 local schools.
In 2012 I came to Canada for studies at Fanshawe College London, Ontario after which I moved to Calgary earlier this year and ohh boy the Albertans and outdoors culture here has fascinated me, I am in Love with Alberta and extremely happy to call it home.
Few months ago joined classes at Alberta Hunter Education Instructors' Association (AHEIA) for RPAL and Hunter Ed course and got licensed for both. As of now I am looking forward to get back into action and learn about Hunting and Fishing.
PS: Calgary members, I am new in town and looking forward to meet outdoorsmen here to learn, gain knowledge, and network among like minded people. Please feel free to send me a message and we can arrange to meet up.

Welcome, have any hunting or fishing stories you'd like to share from India?

Hello folks, thanks for the warm welcome. @Wild&Free, unfortunately hunting is banned in India since 1970's and fishing is mainly limited to commercial fishery. The scope of other outdoor activities is also very limited.

Find the thread for wing night in Calgary.
It could be another link for networking.

Welcome aboard Nirav. You'll find a whole bunch of really excellent, if sometimes outspoken people on this board. For the most part a very fine bunch of gentlemen and ladies.
Just watch out for the little mojito drinking garden gnome, or anybody driving a big black dodge dually. And, enjoy your pool noodle.

Good advice from Mac. You may also need a thesaurus to decipher Cat Lingo...

And if you ever come across something you're not sure about, don't be afraid to take a knee and think it threw.

You should stop typing with shotgun hulls on your fingers.
Welcome to the forum.

I've always wanted to do a mahseer trip to India, was hoping for a first hand account. lots of opportunites to get a line wet or squeeze off a few rounds here though.
the flock of sharp tails that hang around my job site tease me to no end!

Hello Nirav:
It is great to have another gun owner in Alberta.
Glad you found this forum.
P.S. our fellow member Cat must be rolling shotgun shells between his fingers this morning.

Mahseer fishing is not that popular among Indian locals, but yes as a foreign tourist and guest you would get a great experience out there. I do not have any experience with fishing as of yet as the part of India I come from, there is no recreational fishing at all. But I am looking forward to take it up here. Also if you ever need to ask or know anything more about making a fishing trip to India, go to thegungeek.com its the Indian forum of outdoorsmen.
